The above quotation of Swami Vivekanand reminds us that there are varying perceptions regarding the quality of Higher Education in India . Education, in general and higher education, in particular, plays a key role in the realization of economic and technological development of a country.  Higher education enables an individual to acquire knowledge and improve his technical and managerial skills to serve the society better.  It also helps in personality grooming and character building to make him a good citizen.  The higher education environment thus has become fluid in many parts of the world.

The demand for higher education in India has expanded drastically within two decade or so, but, this expansion is not able to move with only the quantitative essentials but qualitative assessments are also mandatory for higher education system. These quantitative and qualitative issues owing to the sub standards of such institutions remain unaddressed most of the time threatening the realization of the national goals for an effective education system. Thus, in compliance with the guidelines of the AICTE and UGC, which are responsible for laying down standards and guidelines for quality education and evaluation system in the country, the Barkatullah University have stepped forward for setting quality standards by introducing various measures like prerequisites for entry, academic infrastructure, curriculum development, evaluation and grading system, monitoring etc.

In the era of globalization there is an unprecedented demand for higher education in general and technical education in particular. It has been realized that a great diversification in technical education, as well as an increased awareness of its vital importance for socio-cultural and economic development, and for building the future, for which the younger generations will need to be equipped with new skills, knowledge and ideals. How to make our technical education system responsive to the changing needs of materialistic market oriented world, as well as the savior and proponent of our historical, cultural and traditional heritage is one of the biggest challenges to be sought in the coming future. Therefore, Barkatullah University  Institute of Technology (BUIT) has provided an Environment to the young students to harness their skill and intelligence to develop them into a technologically sound intellectual to serve the society in particular and India in general.
