Barkatullah University Institute of Technology is an autonomous Institute of Barkatullah University, Bhopal and is located within its lush green campus along with the administrative wing, academic wing, workshop, research laboratories, sports ground, gymnasium, health centre, yoga centre, dispensary, hostel (boys and girls), bank etc. The Institute was established in the year 1997 following approval of All India Council for Technical Education. The Institute offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching programs in various disciplines of technology and sciences. It is a leading institution of central India . The Institute has adopted internationally accepted Continuous Evaluation along with Credit and Grade Point Assessment System of evaluation for awarding the degrees. The Institute has also made its mark as an emerging centre for research in some key areas in science and engineering including Nanotechnology, Communication Technology, Night Vision Device, Photo voltaics, Thin and thick film technology etc. One visiting the institute is bound to feel mesmerized by the charm of the city of Bhopal , the Capital of Madhya Pradesh. The city was founded by Parmar Ruler King Bhoj. The city is a collage of exquisite culture, heritage and beauty. It is doted with pleasant weather and number of tourist attractions ranging from beautiful lakes to historical monuments. Three world heritage sites Sanchi Stupas, Bhojpur Shiv Temple and Rock Painting of Bhim Baithika are in the periphery of the city.
	The Vice chancellor of the University is the chief executive head. The Executive Council of the University acts as the governing body of the Institute and deals with all the academic, financial and administrative matters related to the Institute. The teaching training and research activities of various departments are periodically reviewed. An undergraduate program development committee for each department is responsible for the academic aspects. The Institute is also periodically advised by an advisory committee chaired by the Vice-chancellor and comprised of eminent representatives from DTE, AICTE, industries, academicians, finance officer and the registrar of the University.
Prof. R.K.Pandey, Director of the institute, is a renowned academician and researcher with over 28 years of experience. Prof Pandey has coauthored one research monograph, one review and a more than 80 original research publications in international journals. He has also completed over 15 major research projects sponsored by national funding agencies. He has been invited to a number of countries as visiting professor, visiting scientist, course director, invited speaker etc. The Barkatullah University Institute of Technology is located within the beautiful campus of the Barkatullah University, most congenial for education. It is 15 kms from the railway station and 3 kms formthe Habibganj Railway Station and is in the heart of the large new Bhopal City.
	The Barkatullah University has made available an exclusive area of 12 hectares (30 acres) out of the available 350 acres of land within the campus for building the instructional and administrative area for the Institute. Presently the Institute functions in buildings with a total built up area of 9828 sq m..Moreover construction of 7000sq m for the instructional area and another 1000 sq m for work shop are being processed. Additionally boarding facilities for 130 boys and 40 girls are also available in the hostels situated within the campus. The Institute also shares facilities of the Health Center, the Computer Centre, Library, Sports and Games fields, Gymnasium, Cultural Hall & Auditorium, etc. Banking and Post Officer facilities are also available on the University campus. The institute has spacious well furnished class rooms, drawing halls and laboratories with modern equipment for quality instruction and training. An on line test facility for 60 students is also available in the Institute for campus placement A state of art Computer Center with 60 clients , one Windows and one Unix server and broad band connectivity is also available within the institute premises. Allied facilities like overhead projector, slide projector; Xeroxing M/c, Fax m/c etc are also available. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled.
